John R. Hamilton, born January 8, 1940, El Dorado, Kansas, and has been engaged in the practice of law since 1965. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1965 from the Washburn University School of Law, Topeka, Kansas. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Union University in 1962. John authored the “Eminent Domain-Practice and Procedure” chapter, Kansas Real Estate Practice and Procedure Handbook, Kansas Bar Association, 2009.
John is a frequent lecturer to a number of professional groups, including ALI-ABA, Topeka Bar Association, Washburn Law School, and others on the area of eminent domain and condemnation.
He is a member of the American Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Topeka Bar Association, and Emeritus Member of Owners’ Counsel of America.
On May 14, 2016, John received an Honorary Doctorate of Law degree from Washburn University School of Law, being widely recognized as a leading expert in the areas of eminent domain and condemnation.
